The City Composing Gothenburg
Gothenburg, Sweden
Write music, a poem, a melody, a text, draw the moment, a collage, the gesture, the idea…
“The City Composing Gothenburg” is a project that gives a chance for everybody to become a music composer thus involving people that are non-musicians in the fascinating music creation process. This project invites citizens of Gothenburg to become active creative participants and contributors to the contemporary music making.
The scores are then collected and arranged by Hara Alonso and Johan Svensson and later on performed in a concert by Mimitabu.
From May to September there will be a digital platform where you can participate by creating a score, sending a score, by email, or in case you prefer to send the scores on paper, by post. Everybody is welcome to participate!
The concert will take place in Hagakyrkan the 18th of September at 19:00.

Anniversary concert: Mimitabu 10+1 years!
Gothenburg, Sweden
Mimitabu has for 10 years conveyed the shifting soundscapes of the newest Scandinavian art music in a playful and virtuosic manner, from scandispectralism, geometric constructivism, coloured noise and junk yard aesthetics to music inspired by Swedish November weather. By stretching the possibilities of the ensemble’s acoustic instruments (flute, oboe, clarinet, percussion, piano, violin, viola and cello) to the limits, complemented with electronics and various sounding objects, we can offer unexpected and near limitless sound worlds.
The anniversary concert, originally planned for April 2020, looks both backward and forward – we present highlights from our repertoire in music by Esaias Järnegard, Johan Svensson, Lina Järnegard, Martin Rane Bauck and Ylva Lund Bergner, as well as a world premiere by the Icelandic composer Guðmundur Steinn Gunnarsson.
Where:
Atalante, Gothenburg
When:
The concert will be presented as a video in August.
Programme:
Gudmundur Steinn – New work
Esaias Järnegard – Isola
Ylva Lund Bergner – Achenar
Lina Järnegard – Kylan, plötslig
Johan Svensson – Rita cirklar
Presented by Levande musik and Mimitabu with support from the City of Gothenburg and the Swedish Arts Council.
