Johan Svensson is a Swedish composer, exploring the field between acoustic and electronic music. His focus is on chamber music but his compositions range from solo pieces to works for symphony orchestra. His music often features alternative ways of producing sounds by electronic means. Currently, his interest lies with computer controlled solenoid robots and the relationship possibilities with live performers.
Johan studied composition at Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz, the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg and in masterclasses and courses including the Darmstädter Ferienkursen für neue Musik and the Impuls academy. He has worked with teachers such as Klaus Lang, Pierluigi Billone, Beat Furrer, Asbjørn Schaathun and Ole Lützow-Holm.
His music has been performed at ULTIMA Oslo Contemporary Music Festval, MATA in New York, Nordic Music Days and Sound of Stockholm by Ricciotti ensemble (Amsterdam), Norwegian Radio Orchestra (Oslo) and Athelas Sinfonietta (Copenhagen) among others.
